Rough River Lake

A dam was built on Rough River to help control flooding in the Ohio River Valley. The dam is 135 feet high, 1,500 feet long and 819 feet wide at the base. Rough River Lake covers 5,000 acres, with a shore- line of 221 miles. Fishing in Rough River Lake includes bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, rough fish, and walleye.

Rough River Dam State Resort Park
With 334 acres, the park offers lodging, dining, fishing, boat rent- als, beaches with a beach house, tennis courts, hiking and fitness trails, picnic and playground areas, and miniature golf! Located near an airport and home to the Lady of the Lake II, Rough River Lake's premier tour cruise boat!

Rough River Airport
Located at Rough River Dam State Park and offers 3,200 feet of paved, lighted airstrip with tie-downs and aviation fuel available. It has a shuttle service to the lodge and aviators who prefer can camp near their aircraft at the airport air camp which has a central service building with showers and restrooms.

Rough River Yard Sale
The Rough River Yard Sale goes along Highway 79, during the 2nd weekend in October.

The Dam Triathlon
The Dam Triatholon is held the 2nd weekend in August at Rough River Lake featuring a combination of paddling, cycling and running through the lake area.
